This wreath is from David Petty's book 'Origami 1-2-3'. I have previously tried out a few projects from this book and promptly lost the book! That is, till I found it during some house cleaning :)

This modular piece sounded interesting, so I tried it out. But as per the design, the wreath does not end with pointed ends. The ends are folded down into the neighbouring module to form a kinda blunted wreath. Check out the next picture for the actual wreath - the one in yellow is the way to go. The pointed end one is not very stable and needs to be glued in place if you actually want to use it somewhere.

I used regular copy paper, cut into 2 inch squares. It resulted in a pointy wreath measuring about 4 inches in diameter and a blunted wreath about 2.5 inches in diameter.

The most curious thing for me, about this wreath was that it requires 13 units! I have never come across another model that required 13 modules :) For the blue one, I did add 14 modules though - it was just a tad more stable with 14!

After Meenakshi Mukerji's Cube variations, I gave some other cubes a try. The one in this is by Kunihiko Kasahara and is formed from 8 corner modules and 6 linking modules. The modules are quite simple to make and are made from half a square. So a total of 7 squares of paper are required to complete the 8 + 6 modules required for the model.Steps are clearly presented in his book 'Amazing Origami'.

I thought that this model would make good photo holder when made in the right size. Each face could hold a photo and the corner modules will hold them in place :)

This is an origami ornament that I had done a few months back, that kindled my interest in origami. It is a piece from Lew Rozelle's book Origami Ornaments. The book describes a set of units (Base, Clip, Joiner, Hinge and Insert), which are combined to form modular origami ornaments.

The ornament that I have done is called a star flower ball and is made of 6 bases and 8 joiners. The work is time consuming but I liked the end result a lot. We had hung this decoration in church and it was much appreciated.. Adding Christmas colours of red and green really adds to the beauty.
